there were no birthday celebration back then...
i havn't given tok teh (we call my great grandma tok teh) anything...

but, i always remember her till today, pray for her,
and very thankful that she managed to bring us up alone, and my children too
u see, my dad passed away when i was five maybe...
i dun remember how it was having a dad...

huu...i never knew that before...
sometimes, life is hard on us
but they always say
"every clouds has its silver lining"

Alhamdulillah we are still given this blessing...
still alive to repent any mistakes or negligence

i hope u enjoyed my tiny effort...
can't do much staying abroad plus my unresolved laziness...hehe


i also wanna convey my utmost gratitude

never expecting troubles...
coz mama n ayah sure can solve it (i really do believe that)

everytime i get a message from my primary school bestfriend
even though our houses wasn't that far apart...
but ayah'll send me to her house by car
wait, we met each other everyday at school...hehe
n...we...talk, daydream, pretend....and all those sorts of stuff we do in primary school

now, even if we lost contact over months...
each time we contact each other...
we still talk like we met everyday...hehe...

today, another friend wanted to give her mom descendants that can pray for her...:)

she also said,
the ultimate gift is of course Jannah itself, but it is not ours to give...so we can pray for her...

gotong royong

during my school days,
we usually have a day or two in a year which we call
"hari gotong royong"

meaning, the day of working together...

it's a day where everybody from the principal down to the first year student and anybody in the school will help out to clean up the whole school...
with the help of everybody,
the huge school looks small
and without even taking the whole day, we can get the whole school pristine :D

my friend khadijah wanted to take over her mother's housework for a year...hehe

opss, a month...
urm...i can't deny mother's work is not something easy to take over...
so if u have ur siblings around we can divide up the task to be done
but since u only have ur brother and he's also working...
my proposal might not be quite easy to do

being clean is half of our iman :)
mama loves if we help out to keep the house tidy...hehe

but living in Egypt, am glad that people from villages still comes selling their goods on donkeys and cart...

coz, now...i get to witness

a scene i used to imagine when reading storybooks about village people

that was the past...now we are in the present...

but what would be our mode of transport in the future?

most of us now...whether about to graduate or just started working

has started saving or invest money to buy a car...ad yg da beli da...:)

i congratulated her, n apologized...

u know...those tiny pillows u put in the living room on the sofa
if we have just one or two it'll make it odd...(though some may not really care)
having a complete set is always best

some things in lives, we need to give our complete devotion
n one of them:
loving our parents :)

the first time i witnessed a professor actually broke the ice with an agitated patient, while actually teaching us about skills to communicate with patients n the patient by the end of class was laughing along with us...amazing! glad i attended :D

today's about shawl...or headscarf...

alhamdulillah, i can see more muslim girls nowadays are interested in headscarf...
and fashions for headscarfs bloom out like mushroom after rain
(a malay proverb -seperti cendawan tumbuh selepas hujan- that i literally translate...hehe, it means fast growing n florid-like...like in bacteria culture, imagine proteus')

a friend wish to give his mom a shawl...
because he wanted his mom to try new fashions...

hehe,

my first and second year in cairo,
apart from asking the locals about their foods n vocabularies,
my friends n i also took interest on how they wear shawls as their headscarf...
believe me, i've seen tons of tutorials by my Egyptian friends...
but still i feel quite troublesome to wear shawls as headscarf,
maybe i need to get used to it..
to me, for everyday life...the simpler the better...^_^

so, i'll suggest a video tutorial as well if u wish to present ur mom with a shawl...

at the age of thirteen, i went to boarding school in Terengganu
(my dad's hometown...)
my first time to travel back home after around 5 months away,
feeling excited :D...hehe
i shopped around Kuala Terengganu

at the Bus station...(anyone from KT may know these places if it never changes...hehe)

but...
of course using the money mama banked in
i brought back home souvenirs
for each of my family members
mama, ayah, my three brothers...n aunts n uncles n grandma n cousins........:p
haha...

i gave mama

a yellow glass flower! not daffodils exactly...
it was something like tulip or rose if am not mistaken...
but i dun have a picture of it...

*i still love those moments when i get back home n families crowd around my luggage to see what i bring back for them...:D

my teacher told us to bring some potatoes for stamping
with designs on it...

"ask ur mom's help to carve the designs for you" my teacher said...

but that night, i dun wanna disturbed mama n ayah
n having over confidence in myself...haha
so i attempted on making the designs on potatoes myself

i took out the potatoes, n began cutting...n chopping...n designing
haha...it was a lousy attempt!
until i almost finished the whole lot...
i didn't manage to get even one design on those potatoes...huhu

n mama came down surprised at the mess i've made on the dining table...opss!
mind u, potatoes price in malaysia is quite expensive compared to egypt's...
what a waste...hehe...
am so so sorry mama :(

this reminds me...
i've been recording myself on and off since the age of nine
(the oldest one i hav in possesion, i dun remember if i'v written before that...hehe)

but at those time i didnt learn to write about feelings yet
i use to cut out pictures that impress me,
paste it in that book n write a bit why...
and most of those pictures were mama's calender, or magazine or...
any picture-containing-materials around the house...hehe
which includes our family photos...


i remembered ayah n mama frustrated that i cut the pictures out...
"the scene in this picture is important too...not only our faces..."
oppss!
hehe...sorry ma n ayah...:(
now i really appreciate those photos very much!

*almost every morning, i get the chance to attend Dr Hussein Khairy's lecture...
n he never fails to remind us to jot down everything new that we learn and see...

about six years ago, one of the stuffs i brought along with me to the unknown land of Egypt (that was what in my mind at that time) is this...

a gift from mama

i filled in some 14 pages with pictures...and it stays 14 pages till this moment...hehe
i haven't given a second thought about this gift from mama, until...
a friend said this to me:

it very well can be an idea for me...=)
and can't agree more that digital camera does steal away those moments where we sit together n talk about photos in albums...:(
now i know what to do with the extra 86 pages...hehe

while i was asking around about my march project...
as we are girls...hehe (giggly)
the subject of life partner comes up eventually...
*mayb because we are surrounded by a "marrying community"...:p

and one of the criteria apart from loving caring sensitive confident supportive bla bla bla (whoa...sounds demanding? LOL) is
someone who'd also love our parents as much as we do...

ehem...amiruddin, my junior in highschool wish to give his mom a wife that can take care of both his parents if he's away...so he need not to worry much of their health...(nk Dr. ea?...hehe)

may u b granted this wonderfully thoughtful wish...ameen :)

but they say, as much as we wanted a perfect partner...we should also work to be a perfect person ourselves...
and of course, my best idol are my own parents...^_^

i can't imagine one without the other
and mama n ayah taught me not only to be nice and caring to their own parents
but also to any family members we posses
